Course Content

Stonemasonry may be chosen as a course in S5/6. Pupils selecting this option should have an interest in construction, heritage craft and practical hands‑on work. The course develops the knowledge, understanding and technical skills required for entry‑level roles in the stonemasonry sector, while also encouraging creativity and artistic expression through traditional craft techniques.

Stonemasonry Skills

• Pupils will learn about different types of stone, tools, materials and essential safety procedures.

• Pupils will develop practical skills such as cutting, shaping and dressing stone, with a focus on craftsmanship and creative design.

• Pupils will work to industry standards, developing precision, problem‑solving and an appreciation for the artistry involved in stonework.
