Heritage Language Courses

The City of Edinburgh Council run a heritage language program for S5 pupils.  The programme consists of weekly 90-minute online sessions after school and termly in-person workshops, starting in September.  All sessions are led by experienced native-speaker tutors.  This provision is for S5 learners with strong skills in Arabic, Cantonese, Polish, Russian or Urdu.  Pupils opting for Arabic and Polish will work towards achieving a GCSE certificate; those working with Cantonese and Urdu will work towards SQA Higher; for Russian we are offering Languages for Life and Work Level 7. This is a valuable opportunity to support attainment and to recognise and reward our learners’ skills in languages, so we hope the programme will be of interest to you.  Please contact Mr McAllister to sign up.  Those who decide to sign up for the programme will receive an invitation to online information sessions for parents and pupils. This course is in addition to the 5 school courses.
